Problems compiling...

Postby CactusMel » Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:30 am

Hi All,
I have been away from the Arduino for a good year! and things seem to have changed a lot. I keep getting the following error wether I use Uecide v8.8 or the latest 8.9 pre11.

Code: Select all
Compiling...
• Preprocessing...
• Compiling sketch...
• Compiling core...
‣ arduino
• Compiling libraries...
‣ Servo [C:\Users\Mel\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Servo]
• Linking sketch...
avr-gcc: error: -fuse-linker-plugin is not supported in this configuration
Compiling Failed

And it's on every sketch I try.

Please can you help, and get me up and running again. The Arduino IDE works fine, but I find Uecide much better to use.

Regards

Mel.

I think this may be an incompatibility with the mac version of the compiler - something I cannot test, since I have no mac, and my mac VM is so ancient I can't actually run anything on it.

Locate the file "cores/arduino/core.txt" in your UECIDE data folder (not sure where it puts it on OS X off hand - probably in your user's Library folder - you can get to it from the Help -> Debug menu in UECIDE) and find the line:

Code: Select all
core.ldflags=-flto::-fuse-linker-plugin

Remove the "::-fuse-linker-plugin" bit, and tell UECIDE to rebuild the internal structures (also in the debug menu) and see if it helps. If it does I will check what effect it has on other platforms and roll out a fix for it.

By the looks of things that flag is completely irrelevant - it would have been there on an earlier version of the compiler, but removed at some point in the past. I'll ditch it and roll a new core version.
